Client: The Sweetest Thing Bakery – a bakery themed around chick flicks.
The owner loves chick flicks like The Sweetest Thing, Bridesmaids, & Girls Trip and wanted to combine her talent of baking with her love of these types of movies. She and her team create movie themed cakes with popular catch phrases and iconic scenes on them. They’re also a sex positive establishment, making cakes shaped like breasts, penises and other fun treats mostly used for bachelorette and birthday parties.

Objective:
Create a welcome email sequence for her customers who’ve signed up to receive The Sweetest Thing’s monthly newsletter. This welcome sequence will have at least three emails that will welcome them to the shop’s online resources, give them a free treat or discount code, invite them to follow the shop on socials, and remind them about the monthly newsletter they signed up for and when they can expect it each month.

Have you ever seen the movie The Sweetest Thing?
If you have, you’ll know it’s a raunchy chick flick that came out in the early 2000s when comedy was at the top of everyone’s wish list. Starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair - this was and still is one of the greatest chick flicks of all time!
Let me fill you in on how our favorite movie became the theme for our small bakery…
About the owner:
Baking sweets with my mom and sister was often the highlight of my weekends throughout my high school years.
Instead of joining my classmates' wild parties, I chose to stay home with my family. Yesss, I may not have been the most popular girl but look at where my passions led me?!
My early 20s were spent staying up late eating popcorn, drinking cheap wine, and watching chick flicks on dingy laptops. Nothing brought me more joy than these unforgettable girls’ nights with my best friends.
Somehow, that unpopular high schooler eventually became an even wilder party girl than the classmates she had known. Nowadays, I LOVE spending a night out on a dance floor just like the characters from my favorite chick flicks!
With all of that in mind, allow me to set the scene:
The year was 2016 & one of my best friends was getting married soon. I had signed up to do all the baking for the bachelorette party & wedding & was thrilled to be doing it.
The morning of the bachelorette party was a sunny Saturday full of baking cookies of all kinds. Chocolate chips & dry oats were scattered across my kitchen table, there was honey stuck to the refrigerator door handle, and flour was caked underneath my fingernails. The fondant toppings had already been created & were looking extra naughty. It was my first experience with baking this way & I became obsessed with the feeling.
After baking for my best friend's wedding, I realized that I could put my skills & interests to use.
Combining my love of baking with my love of chick flicks & wild parties, I created an all-new kind of bakery with women like me in mind.
